Discovering about Coaxial Cables – Brief Understanding of Coaxial Cables

What are Coaxial Cables used for? How many types of Coaxial Cables? What are Coaxial Cables? All knowledge of Coaxial Cables is briefly shown in this article.

What are Coaxial Cables?

Coaxial Cables are the type of cable which has one conductive core wrapped by a non-conductive dielectric layer, wrapped around by metal braid layer; the outer shell is an insulated cover. Structure of Coaxial Cable normally includes 4 layers:

-/ Copper core layer: It may be an empty core (Feeder 7/8, 1-5/8) or solid core (Feeder ½, RG Cable…)

-/ Insulated dielectric layer

-/ Metal braid layer: is made of copper/ aluminum which is intertwined as a net in order to lose loss, anti-interference. (For Feeders, this layer is replaced into thin copper or tin cover in a wave form (Corrugated coaxial cable)).

-/ Sheaths which are made of PVC… used to protect them from outside environment.

How many types of Coaxial Cables?

There are many types of Telecom coaxial Cables, each type has its features; therefore each of them has different effects.

- Rigid Coaxial Cables

- Flexible Coaxial Cables

- Low-loss Coaxial Cables

- Outer-conductive-three-layer Cables

- Corrugated Coaxial Cables (Feeder)

- RG Coaxial Cable

RG Coaxial Cables are used to transmit viba, transmit internally among BTS Stations. Besides, RG Coaxial Cables are still used in the following cases:

Feeder Coaxial Cables are used to transmit signals between antenna and BTS, the feature of copper Feeder is anti-interference, losing attenuation to make transmitted signal lose the least.

What are Coaxial Cables used for?

Coaxial Cables are one of Telecom Cables which are often used to be signal transmission line for radio. Some applications are signal providing lines between radio transceivers and receivers and their antennas, used as television cables. Besides, Coaxial Cables are used in security and surveillance fields, connecting cameras to video recordings and TV screens…

Coaxial Cables has a good feature is that digital signals which are transmitted in the cables only exist inside cable core. By which, it is feasible to install cables next to metal materials without being afraid of losing power, which has happened with other older cables. Signals inside Coaxial Cables also don’t make interference from the outside sources.
