Understanding from A to Z about RG Telecom Coaxial Cables
Whoever working in telecommunications understands what RG Coaxial Cables are used for, but why are they called RG? Why are RG Coaxial Cables used in such kinds of work, not any other types of Cables? If you are also having such questions, the below article will help you to explain in details for all of your questions.
What are Telecom Coaxial Cables? In the article of introducing about Telecom Coaxial Cables, there already has been introduced in details. You can read it again here: http://vienthongtat.com/cap-dong-truc-vien-thong-feeder-7/8-va-1/2-khac-nhau-the-nao
RG Telecom Coaxial Cables are the types of Telecom Cables used as an effective transmission solution for Telecom Systems such as Satellite Communication, Marine, Mobile communication, the systems of AM, FM, In-building, Radar information, television ...
There are two types: The first is thin Coaxial Cable (Thin Cable/ Thinnet) – 10BASE-2: Its diameter is about 6mm, belongs to RG-58 type, the maximum length for one segment is 185m, maximum data transmission speed is 10Mbps, Maximum Repeater Indicator is 4, the maximum number of Stations per one segment is 30, the maximum number of Stations in the network is 90, minimum distance between two machines is 0,5m.
The second type is Thick Cable (Thick Cable/Thicket) – 10BASE-5: Its diameter is about 13mm, belongs to RG-58 type, maximum length for one segment is 500mm, maximum data transmission speed is 10Mbps, Maximum Repeater Indicator is 4, the maximum number of Stations per one segment is 50, the maximum number of Stations in the network is 300, minimum distance between two machines is 2,5m.
How are RG Coaxial Cables used?
The current type of Coaxial Cable which is used commonly is RG-59 and RG-6. Both types of Cables are used almost in indoor environment, in Cable Television Services, The system of security and supervision. In which, RG-59 has the features of specs as Coaxial Cables.
Comparing the above two types of Cables, RG-6 has a bigger core of central signal transmission, a thinner insulating solvent layer, there will be able to have 3 or 4 protection layers, vice versa, RG-59 only has 1. RG-59 is suitable to signal transmission with low frequency and near distance, while RG-6 is suitable to signal transmission with high frequency and far distance.
Protection Cladding of each type also standardized according to the scope of application of each type, it means that RG-9 suitable to the applications having basic frequency range, short scope, and RG-6 for higher frequency range.
