What is Safe Grounding? – Finding more about safe grounding
What is grounding?
Grounding or earthing is a method of solving electrical leakage problems outside electrical appliances, electronics
What is grounding used for?
- Increase safety for human.
- Increase belief for system, ensure serving customers better.
- Improve system operation:
+Decrease interference surroundings
+ Increase belief for system
+ Decrease damage of devices
+ Increase duration for devices
How to install protective lightening devices?
-/ Grounding piles
Grounding piles often are used with diameter from 14mm upwards, the length of 2m.
Depth and the number of piles depends on geology of each regions as long as resistance measured below 10Ω
Piles need connecting together with copper wires, welds or fixing with copper bolts.
This grounding wire is connected to the metal case of electrical equipment in the house.
-/ Trench, hole or drill well for grounding.
Determine the location of making earthing system.
Checking carefully before trenching to avoid other underground construction works such as underground cables or water pipe systems.
Trenching with the depth from 600mm to 800mm, the width from 300mm to 500mm, the length and the shape following designed drawings or real construction space.
For areas with limited construction space or lands with high soil resistance, there must be applied method of drilling well, diameter of drilling well from 50mm to 80mm, depth from 20m to 40m depending on the depth of groundwater.
-/ Bury electrodes into the ground.
Pile the grounding piles at the defined positions so that the distance among the piles is twice as much as the length of piles piled into the ground. However, for areas making land areas limited, there can be piled the piles with the shorter distance (but not 1 time shorter than the length of piles).
Deep the piles until the top of the piles are from 100mm to 150mm away from the trench bottom.
Particularly the central pile is piled shallower than the other piles so that the top of the piles is from 150 to 250mm away from the ground so when installing testing pits of earth resistance, the top of the piles will be inside the pits.
Laying bare copper cables along the dug trenches to link to piled piles.
Kumwell Exothermic welding (refer to instructions of Kumwell welding) to link the piles with bare copper cables.
Pouring the chemicals reduces soil resistance along bare coaxial cables or before piling, deep at the place having diameter holes is from 300mm to 500mm deep (calculating from the trench bottom and chemicals will be poured into this holes.
Chemicals which reduce soil resistance will absorb moisture to form colloidal covering electrodes increasing the exposed surface between the electrodes and the ground to reduce soil resistance and protect earthing system.
In the case of drilling well, grounding piles will be linked straightly to the cables to deep down till the bottom of the well. Pouring chemicals reduces soil resistance to the well, simultaneously pouring the water down so that all chemicals can be sediment until the bottom of the well.
Lightning conductors directly from lightning metals or grounding cables from the main grounding copper plates will be linked to the system of land in the center of the pile position (the place of testing pits of Earth Resistance).
